DIY in Process

The spare room in our flat has been converted into a wedding workshop. Needless to say, our housemate cannot wait for us to move out in June!

A few projects in process...
Is it a garage sale? Nope. This is one of what will be many mass dish washing operations on our lawn.

The dishes will run through a dish washer once they are up at my parent's for the wedding, but until then, we got all the thrift store stickers off, and got the dishes (mostly) clean, outside.

Our neighbors, in addition to our housemate, think we are insane.

One of my favorites:
My current favorite DIY project is my napkin making sweatshop. I buy old sheets from thrift stores, wash them, and cut them up with pinking sheers. This stack doesn't look like many, but it's actually around 50 napkins! Almost halfway there...

Hi I was just reading back through your blog and love how you made the napkins! I want to do that! (When I get married someday...)

I am just starting to plan my wedding and saw this post about the napkins. I really like this idea a lot - and seems like it would be far less expensive than buying/renting napkins! And it would fit into our picnic idea.

Question...now that you're done with the wedding - how did these work out? Were they sturdy enough? What size did you cut them out?

The napkins worked out great. We basically made one in a size we liked (about a foot square) and then used that as a rough template for the rest. They weren´t all exactly the same size, but who really cares!

They were sturdy enough, but you need to make sure you buy sheets with enough cotton content for them to actually be absorbant and really useful as napkins. You can pretty much tell by feel whether they will work or not.

Brilliant! I am planning on making bunting and using old sheets would be perfect!

Pherenike- We actually used the leftovers from the napkins to make buntings that hung around our wedding.
